Sports At Cuddington
At Cuddington Croft we recognise how important sporting participation is. We understand the truism that a healthy mind means a healthy body. We pride ourselves in developing our children’s teamwork, resilience and to celebrate the success of themselves and of others. As a result, we are pleased to offer the children at Cuddington the chance to take part in intra and inter-school competitions as well as attending a variety of clubs. These opportunities allow for the children to develop sporting leadership skills and apply our learning from our Packtypes learning styles and our 6C ethos. We feel it is important that our children get the opportunity to represent the school in the local community. Taking part in these competitions helps develop confidence, teamwork, effective communication and allows children to learn about success and how to deal with not winning through a supportive environment that allows for the children to celebrate taking part as well as their little successes too, which we are extremely proud of.
Our children all have at least two hours of quality provision a week. For one term of the year each class (Reception to Year 5) will also be privileged to have a swimming lesson provided by a qualified instructor in our amazing on site indoor pool.
We also believe that some competition in sport is a healthy thing. To reflect this belief we have organised a weekly house sporting competition. Every Friday lunchtime representatives from our house teams will compete in a sport and the results will be shared with the school the following Friday in celebration assembly. The sport is different each week and this term we have done: Cross country running, football, and rugby. In the Summer term we will also introduce cricket, hockey and rounders. To develop leadership in Sport, these intra-school events are refereed and organised by sports captains. The captains had to apply for the job and were chosen based on their attitude to sport rather than their ability. We have recently begun to produce a termly sports newsletter. These can be found on the school website. Please follow the link.
In the Summer term the school has a sports themed week and hold a sports day for all three phases in our school. For phase 2 this will last two days as it will include a wide range of competitive and non-competitive sport.
We offer children in KS1 & 2 the opportunity to represent our school in borough competitions in a variety of sports ranging from dodgeball to multi-skills to tag rugby. At a recent football event we were the only school to have 2 teams in the boys and girls tournament. This not only shows the enthusiasm our pupils have for competitive sport, but also pride in representing their school.
In addition to all this we currently run a broad variety of school clubs. Many of these provide further opportunities for the children to become involved in sporting activities. Many of these clubs also lead to participation in local inter school competitions. This year our girls football team won the borough competition and went on to the Surrey wide championship.
We are extremely proud of our sporting achievements with all of the children’s participation, personal successes and team successes. An example of our particular achievements in the local community are:
