Year 1 had a fantastic day at the London Wetland Centre yesterday. The children took part in a brilliant Plant Detectives workshop, where they learned how to classify different leaves before heading out to find some for themselves. As we explored the wetlands, we spotted a wide range of bird, including ducks and geese and a few lucky children even caught sight of the otters. We enjoyed lunch outside and then continued our adventure with a walk around the site, stopping at various viewing points to take in the scenery. To finish the day, the children had great fun in the adventure playground and completed the wild walk. It was a wonderful trip full of nature and lots of happy faces.

Year 3 had a fantastic day stepping back into Tudor times at Hampton Court Palace. We explored the Tudor kitchens, learning how meals were prepared for the royal court, and walked through Henry VIII’s apartments, imagining what life was like for the king himself. The children especially loved meeting ‘Lady Ann’, who shared brilliant Tudor facts and stories that truly brought our learning to life. A memorable day filled with curiosity, history, and lots of excited questions!

Year 4 had an amazing Viking and Anglo‑Saxon Day! We enjoyed our Anglo-Saxon workshop where the children stepped into the shoes of Anglo-Saxon villagers and recreated the legend of Beowulf. We also learnt about Viking runes, researched the Norse gods, and printed our own Viking monograms. We did all of this dressed as fearsome Viking or Anglo-Saxon warriors!

The children showcased their dancing and singing beautifully and both the performers and the audience were fantastic. Yesterday, Years 2, 5 and 6 took part in a workshop led by the NSPCC focusing on speaking out to stay safe. We discussed different scenarios, exploring whether they are always OK, sometimes OK or never OK. The key message of the session was to speak to trusted adults if something makes us feel unsafe.

6️⃣ As part of their biography writing, Year 6 interviewed Mrs Wood about a significant event in her life. The children really enjoyed hearing about her time playing netball and used their written notes to collaboratively write a short biography. Thank you Mrs Wood for being our interviewee!

🔬 We’ve had a fantastic day celebrating British Science Week! Following this year’s theme, “Curiosity – what’s your question?”, each year group explored their own science investigation. From testing whether toast lands butter-side down, to melting crayons and finding the best handkerchief material, the children loved making predictions and carrying out hands-on experiments! We are looking forward to sharing our learning with you all at Parents’ Evening next week!

Yesterday evening, Cuddington teamed up with @warrenmeadschools and @stpaulshh for a powerful and thought‑provoking parent workshop on screens and digital life. This session was put on because we want to work in partnership with our local community to support and empower parents as they navigate an increasingly complex online world. A big thank you to our panel of experts for sharing their knowledge, offering practical guidance and helping us reflect on the realities of digital life. Another big thank you to all the parents who came along and asked insightful questions. We’re always keen to shape future sessions around what matters most to you. 👉 Please do suggest any topics you would like us to cover next.

Our Year 5 pupils did brilliantly at the Surrey Lifesaving Competition, It’s a Fish Out! 🏊‍♂️ They showed fantastic water safety knowledge, strong swimming skills and impressive rescue techniques — from rope throwing to manikin towing. Their teamwork, focus and determination were clear throughout. A huge thank you to Anna, Jo and Mr Hunnable, who led the children on Saturday and supported them every step of the way. 👏 Well done to all who took part — you represented our school incredibly well, demonstrating our 6Cs every step (or stroke) of the way.

📚 Cuddington had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day, where we celebrated our love of language and turned this into a whole‑school adventure. Children arrived dressed as their chosen word, which ignited the children’s curiosity and creativity for the day. Throughout the day, they stepped into character through drama, classes paired up to enjoy shared reading and every class contributed to a virtual whole‑school story that will soon be published and added to our library shelves.

Cuddington received a special visit from the author and performance poet, Tomos Roberts @probablytomfoolery, earlier this week during our busy Careers Week. Tom shared his inspiring journey into writing, giving the children fascinating insight into his life as a poet and author. He spent time with our Year 3 and Year 4 classes, exploring a range of poetry styles and helping children to generate their own creative ideas. Through engaging activities and practical advice, he encouraged the children not only to develop their writing skills but also to build the confidence to perform and share their work with others. It was a truly motivational experience for all involved. 📖

Spring is in the air! 🌼 Just before Christmas, we were very kindly donated a selection of bulbs which we carefully planted in anticipation of brighter days ahead. We are now delighted to see them in full bloom with beautiful daffodils adding a splash of colour to our outdoor space. Our Eco Leaders are looking forward to taking care of them and ensuring they continue to thrive.
