6️⃣ Year 6 had the pleasure of meeting two visitors who shared their experiences of WW2: one who served in the Navy and one who was evacuated as a child. It was fascinating to hear first hand how their lives were impacted and the children enjoyed asking questions linking to their learning. Thank you for coming!

2️⃣ Year 2 had an interesting visitor today.... Paddington Bear arrived in Lovelace and Nightingale! Inside his coat, we found an interesting letter from Aunt Lucy asking about how he’s been getting on in London! Over the next two weeks, we will be building up to writing a letter to reply to her. Since we are writing the letter from Paddington, we practised getting into character as him. One partner asked a question about one of the adventures and the other partner answered as if they were Paddington. “At first, I felt very embarrassed when I fell into the strawberry tart but then I let all my worries melt away, just like marmalade on toast!”

4️⃣ In Maths, the children used string as a unit of measure to determine and compare the perimeter of a range of 2D shapes. We walked around the edge of the playground and counted how many steps it took. The adults took less steps than the Year 4 children because their feet were bigger. We learnt that to compare the perimeter, we must use the same unit of measure!
