📚 Across the school, we took part in different World Book Day activities. Using knowledge of our favourite book characters, we prepared speeches to battle to establish the Ultimate Character Champion. Phase 1 used drama to bring a book to life while Phase 2 took part in The Great Big Footy & Booky Quiz. Everyone heard a story read to them by a different teacher. We hope that all of this will help instil a love of reading among our children. Remember the Scholastic Book Fair is running on Wednesday and Thursday this week after school in the studio!

5️⃣ & 6️⃣ Year 5 and 6 took part in an anti-bullying workshop this week focusing on respecting others. After discussing what is bullying and what bullying isn’t, we made freeze frames of scenarios that didn’t show respect and their alternative, demonstrating how to show respect to everyone. We practised being calm and clear when we don’t like the way we are being treated and how to deal with conflict.

6️⃣ Year 6 had an interesting morning at Junior Citizen, developing their knowledge about what to do in various emergencies, from safety around water to recognising scams. We now know to text the British Transport Police if we witness anti-social behaviour, how to perform CPR and the dangers that railways present. This valuable knowledge will help as they make steps in their independence at secondary school!
